    Peter Hames.
    Film historian and film critic (Great Britain)

    Born in 1936 in Slough, Great Britain. He originally studied International Relations at Keele University before taking his Ph.D in Film Studies at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. He lectured in Film and Media Studies at Staffordshire University until 1998, where he is now Honorary Research Associate, and has been a programme advisor to the London Film Festival since 1990. He was course leader for one of the first undergraduate film studies courses in the United Kingdom, established in 1975. He is a member of FIPRESCI and has contributed to many journals, including «Sight and Sound», «Kinoeye» and «KinoKultura». His books include «The Czechoslovak New Wave» (2005), «Czech and Slovak Cinema: Theme and Tradition» (2009) and, as editor, «The Cinema of Central Europe» (2004) and «The Cinema of Jan Svankmajer: Dark Alchemy» (2008).
