  She was born in Bryansk and graduated from the Acting Department of VGIK (class of S.Gerasimov and T.Makarova). Her first role in cinema was in Sergei Gerasimov’s film «Lev Tolstoy». She also appeared in the films «Night» (1990) by Gennady Sidorov and «I can’t Forget, can’t Forgive...» (1990) by Nadezhda Repina. In 1998 she made her debut as director with the film «Happy Birthday!» and she toured numerous festivals with this film and won many awards. «With Love, Lilly» (2002) was her second full#length feature film won the Tiger Award in the Rotterdam Film Festival. The film also received the Grand-Prix at the Warsaw International Film Festival. Her film «Babysitter Required» was released in 2005. Her latest film, «Nothing Personal» (2007)   received the FIPRESCI award in the Moscow International Film Festival and other awards.
