Andrei Tarkovsky VI International film festival “Zerkalo” closed in Ivanovo and Plyos

Grand Prix of the Festival was awarded to “In the fog” directed by Sergey Loznitsa.

Producer Valentina Mikhaleva red out his address to the festival contestants. "It is an honor to receive such an award. My thanks to the jury for a high appraisal of my work", - was mentioned in his address.

Eduardo Nuñes won Best Director award for his feature "Southwest".

Award for the Professional achievement and reflecting of paradoxicality of the human nature went to "The loneliest planet" directed by Julia Loktev (USA/Germany).

Best Cast award is given to "Back to stay" directed by Milagros Mumenthaler (Argentina/ Switzerland). Special award "For honest un uncompromising account of painful problems in one`s own country" went to Israeli film "Room 514" directed by Sharon Bar-Ziv.

Audience award has been won by " Thursday till sunday" , directed by Dominga Sotomayor (Chile/ Netherlands). Andrei Tarkovsly is one of the of greatest filmmakers of the XX-th century, the author of the cinematic language of his own, a profound thinker and cosmic-scale individuality. Over the years the Ivanovo Region, Yurievets-Town, where Andrei Tarkovsky was born and spent his childhood has been a place where Andrei Tarkovsky’s relatives, colleagues, researchers of his works have gotten used to come. In 2007 on Master’s 75-th anniversary, the Government of the Ivanovo Region with the support of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Gosfilmofond of the Russian Federation, The Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation established the International Film Festival “Zerkalo”, named after Andrei Tarkovsky. Organizing committee of the Film Festival is headed by Governor of the Ivanovo Region Mikhail Men. Film director’s sister Marina Tarkovskaya is one of the inspirers and architects of the film forum. Russian film director, the People’s Artist of Russia Pavel Lungin has been President of the Festival since 2010.

For the last four years the Festival has earned a special place in present cultural life not only of the Ivanovo Region and Russia but of the foreign countries as well. Prominent filmmakers from Russia, USA, England, France, Greece, Poland, Korea, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Iran, Iceland, Finland, Italy, Tajikistan, Georgia and other countries visited the Film Festival at various times.

Busy program of festival events features the International competition of fiction films, special screening, retrospective shows, animation, students films. Annually during the Festival about 150 films are shown, over 50 creative meetings are held and about 25 thousand people visit festival events.

The annual VI-th Film Festival was held from May 29 to June 3 2012 in Plyos and Ivanovo, Ivanovo region
